Hilar

as in hilarious!
Just browsing some flickr accounts of my favorite artists and crafters and then I stumbled on some photos of myself and this lovely lady from when we went to ICE! No doubt I'm all smiles because I was with her!
Cracked up like an egg.

Plant Pretty Things

I love planting and all things flora/fauna. Gerber Daisies, Zinnias, Poppies, and everything that springs with color. Every year I hatch a color "theme" for my garden to follow; last year was "rainbow" in honor of gay marriage begin legalized (now sadly defunct). This year, however, is Sunrise, Sunset, so all colors incorporate yellows, oranges, reds, and pinks. Truly delightful! And, oh yes, a wide variety of tomatoes, including big boy, lazy girl, yellow, etc!

Peace, Love, and PLANTING!

Gritty

This lovely lady and I adventured to the most wonderous place for grilled cheese smelts. We talked of embroidery floss and painting.

I went Thrift store shopping and found some gems...An ultra-chic Nicole Miller dress for (wait for it........) $4.49 along with an old pattern for a mere quarter in addition to a tea towel begging to be (well, washed and) embroidered! Crafty timing

sur le bitume

Last night J and I saw the Live Action Shorts that are nominated for Oscars! Love me some Oscar action. My two favorites were "New Boy" and "Manon sur le bitume." Quite lovely stories. I recently saw Milk as well and was unspeakably inspired. Good films this year. Happy Oscar-Viewing!
Happy Birthday Oscar...

finicky beginnings

I think that I have started 4 blogs that trail off after the first day. Needless to say, I'm quite finicky! However, I hope to change my ways.

There is a restaurant down the street from my appartment that has closed its doors (probably more due to it being a health hazard than the economy), and I have dreams of buying it in order to start a Cupcake Shop! I'm already thinking business plan and all.

My Mom and I have always adored the concept of all things petite, and petite cakes... oh-so-fabulous! We have upheld the tradition of swapping cupcake books, and these little treats arrived in the mail for me as a "because I love you" present. Perfection.

Bake it pretty houses theses wonderful treasures now adorning my kitchen (and thoughts)

I hope that all of your days and dreams deliver peace, love, and cupcakes,
J
oh, and if you are in the Atlanta area ever, you should go "cupcaking" in Virginia Highlands and visit these sweet treats...

Fuzzy hearts

Despite what many people believe about Saint Valentine's Day (some say over commercialized, I say under-loved), I fully believe in the celebration of all things "love" related. I think that it is a great day to show everyone you know, despite how well or how long, that you simply care about/for their well being. With this thought in mind, I created a few little cards to say "Happy Heart Day" (overly saccharine, I know, but am not ashamed... I wear my heart on my sleave (overboard...okay it stops now)!)

I made these with all "found" items. Easy as pie.
I cut some paper that I found in the basement into a square
then, cut some pretty pink felt from my crafting workshop into a heart
Found some buttons in my button jar
Went to work....
Sewed the heart onto the folded squared paper with red thread in a zig-zag stitch (with the machine, of course)
Then watched the Barefoot Contessa do her thing on TV while attaching a plethera of buttons in Valentine-y colours
End result: Fuzzy hearts with lots of love.
peace, love, and valentine cards,
J
